Earlier known as National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD), National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is the Nodal agency for many of the important disease of public health importance. It has played a great role in the control of infectious diseases and in the eradication of Small pox, Yaws and Guinea Worm. Disease surveillance is carried out through Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) situated at the campus. It continues to play a great role in the control of vector borne diseases through NVBDCP. The institute provides services through Outbreak Investigations, Referral laboratory services, trains manpower through programmes like MPH, FETP and EIS programmes and Provide research opportunities.
